Difference between shaft seal and oil seal

Broadly speaking, shaft seal and oil seal belong to the different names of rotary shaft dynamic seal, the difference between them is that the shaft seal refers to the pump end seal, the seal between the rotating pump shaft and the fixed pump casing to prevent the high pressure liquid from leaking out of the pump along the shaft, or the outside air seeping in along the shaft; while the oil seal refers to the lubricating oil seal, commonly used in various mechanical bearings, especially the rolling bearing parts. Its function is to isolate the oil chamber from the outside world, seal the oil internally and seal the dust externally. Therefore, shaft seal and oil seal are two different performance seals, do not confuse the use.
